KNOW JACK

I started uploading comedy videos on social media almost 15 years ago. Since then, I’ve gained a combined 5 Million followers/subscribers, garnered more than 10 Billion video views and even won a Streamy Award for best prank channel on YouTube. If you’ve never heard of a Streamy Award, it’s basically exactly like an Emmy or an Oscar, except, not even close.

HISTORY OF PRANKS

Through building a presence online, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to produce and star in TV shows and films. Having been a part of the industry pretty much since the beginning, I’ve seen it all. In fact, In the beginning of the prank business (It’s weird to write that, but Yes, it is a business), it was all simple, light-hearted and funny. I had a blast with my friends and family making funny videos saying and doing ridiculous things in public. Then, something changed. People started uploading videos of themselves being mean to people and labeled them as “pranks.” The next thing you know, more and more people were destroying property, hurting people, and faking pranks. Before you knew it, if your video didn’t contain sexual content or push the envelope in some way, it didn’t get views. Some called it “The Jerry Springer Syndrome”, meaning that viewers seemed to have an appetite for that type of content. Times had changed and I watched it happen. Well, I couldn’t accept that.

THE POWER OF FUNNY

You see, I believed funny was funny. Movies like The Naked Gun, Dumb and Dumber or Three Amigos will always be funny to me. Pushing the envelope is fine, but not if it compromises your integrity. The power of laughter is one of the most powerful gifts God has given us. It has the ability to heal our mind and even our bodies. The letters, emails and messages I have received over the years from people in hospitals, struggling with depression, dealing with the loss of a loved one, etc. are what has inspired me to continue down this path of comedy. Making people laugh is important to me and I will never give it up.

NOW I’M FREE

One of the things I have noticed over the past few years is that these same big tech companies that made it possible for me to do what I do, have decided that THEY ALONE are now the ones who get to decide when a piece of content should be removed and when someone should be silenced. Now, you might be thinking “you do pranks, who cares? Why would they silence you?” Well, I had one video a few years ago where I did a prank near a sign that read “Trump 2016”. It was seen through-out the video. The video was removed within 24 hours. I can’t explain why but I filed an appeal so that a so called “human” would review it. They got back to me and said that a “manual review” was done and they have determined that the video will remain deleted. Keep in mind, the video was NON-political. THESE are the algorithms we are dealing with today! This is just ONE example but the bottom line is I have personal friends who have been silenced for MANY various reasons. Politics, religion, medical disagreements, etc.

One of the things I like the most about being a creator, is connecting with you. The fans, who actually feel more like friends to me. Now, you probably know that I make no apologies about what I believe. I am a Christian. My Bible tells me to never be ashamed of my faith so I’m definitely not going to let any of these big tech companies bully me into being quiet about God.
